Gwynne Windham Obituary

Gwynne Barefoot Cooke Windham, 79, left this world on September 4, 2018, to be with her Savior Jesus Christ and be reunited with her deceased son, R. Preston Cooke, and parents, Ethel and Hilton Barefoot.

She was born in 1939 in Florence, SC, and graduated from McClenaghan High School. She taught at CTI in Charlotte, NC, and worked in the early stages of computer technology. She was retired from World of Color in Florence.

Mrs. Windham was committed to her children’s activities and well-being, and was always willing to help. She volunteered at McLeod Hospital, and as a Guardian ad Litem with Florence County.

She is survived by her husband, Sanders Rudy Windham, of Timmonsville; her daughter, Jodi Cooke Poston (Darrell), also of Timmonsville; step-son, John Windham (Cathy) of Jackson, TN; special son, Lee Tuten (Caroline) and his children, Savannah and Abigail, of Montgomery, AL; sister, Linda Rogers (Barden) of Timmonsville; grandchildren, Taylor Poston, Dylan Poston, Noah Windham, Claire Windham, and Lucas Windham; sister-in-law, Sara Barefoot, of Florence; nieces and nephews, Sharon Rogers, Matt Rogers, Walt Barefoot (Anja), and Sandra B. Willis (Glynn); a very special friend of 64 years, Sylvia Perkins of Florence; and other close friends, Brad Watford of Florence, and Robbie Danner of Charlotte, NC.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday, September 8, 2018, at Waters-Powell Funeral Home with visitation beginning at 12:30 p.m. Entombment will follow at Florence Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Lake Swamp Baptist Church, 6558 Oates Highway, Timmonsville, SC 29161.

Family visitation will be from 12:30 to 2:00 p.m., Saturday, prior to the funeral.
