FLORENCE Alma Arlene DeLong Oates, 79, died Thursday, March 6, 2014, at McLeod Hospice House after an illness.
Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m., Saturday, March 8, 2014, at Hoffmeyer Road Baptist Church with entombment following in Mount Hope Cemetery Mausoleum. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Friday, at Waters-Powell Funeral Home.
She was born in Eastman, Georgia, a daughter of the late Robert Lester and Mary Alma Garrison DeLong. She was the widow of Charles C. Oates, Sr.
Mrs. Oates loved her church and was an active member of Hoffmeyer Road Baptist Church.
She is survived by her daughter, Charlene Oates Hill of Florence; her son, Charles C. Chuck (Heidi) Oates, Jr. of Myrtle Beach; three granddaughters, Ashley Coates Wynn of Hickory, NC, Emily Hill of Lamar, SC, Madelyn Oates of Myrtle Beach; and a great-granddaughter, Ellison Wynn of Hickory, NC.
