Anderson George Wise

FLORENCE Mr. Anderson George Wise, 84, passed away peacefully on July 22, 2015, after battling a chronic illness. Mr. Wise was born October 3, 1930, in Pamplico, SC to the late George Lester and Eula Brown Wise. Mr. Wise was a graduate of the University of South Carolina and started his first professional career at Wade Hampton High School, where he taught chemistry and coached the varsity basketball team. He later ventured out and established Wise Construction Company in 1964 where he served as president for 51 years until his passing.

Mr. Wise was married to the late Janie McCutchen Wise for 39 years and they had two sons, George Bayard Wise of Columbia, SC, and Brian Keith Wise of Denver, CO, who survive him. He is also survived by a daughter-in-law, Catherine Barnes Wise, of Denver, CO; a recently adopted grandson, Izaac Emerson Wise; two sisters, Thyra Wise Hyman of Surfside Beach and Barbara Wise McCutcheon of Scranton; sister- and brother-in-law, Ann B. and Lee M. West Jr. of Bishopville; sister-in-law, Hazel Hyman Wise of Florence; two close life-long friends, Tommy Brooks of Tupelo, MS, and Tom Gressette of Florence; special friend, Anne Smith of Hartsville, SC; and a number of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, July 31, 2015, at Waters-Powell Funeral Home, followed by a family visitation. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery at 12:30 p.m., Friday.
