FLORENCE – Ann Boyd Finch, 86, died Wednesday, March 26, 2014, at McLeod Hospice House after an illness.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 29, 2014, at First Baptist Church with burial following in Mount Hope Cemetery, directed by Waters-Powell Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., Saturday, at the church.
She was born in Gadsden, Alabama, a daughter of the late Neal Longshore and Anna Jessie Lowe Boyd. She was the widow of Carey Thornton Finch.
Mrs. Finch was an award-winning artist and her works were exhibited in the Gadsden (Alabama) Museum and the Florence Museum. She was also the owner of the Patchwork Palette, an antique shop and art studio. She taught art for many years and was a mentor and instructor to many area artists. She was a member of the South Carolina Watercolor Society and the Working Artists of Florence.
In Gadsden, AL, she was a member of the Gadsden Service Guild. A resident of Florence for most of her adult life, she was a member of First Baptist Church and the Pinehaven Garden Club.
Survivors include her daughter, Kathryn F. Godbold of Pisgah Forest, NC; two sons, Carey Boyd (Joy) Finch of Inman, SC, and John Jefferson (Lily) Finch of Florence; a sister, Betty Boyd (Rondal D.) Lankford of Huntsville, AL; a brother, William Longshore (Shirley J.) Boyd of Gadsden, AL; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the Florence Museum, 111 W. Cheves St., Florence, SC 29501; or to the Adult Ministries of First Baptist Church, 300 S. Irby St., Florence, SC 29501.
