Barbara Turner Segars

FLORENCE Barbara Turner Segars, 83, died Tuesday, June 21, 2016, after a brief illness.

Funeral services will be 12:00 noon, Saturday, June 25, 2016, in Waters-Powell Funeral Home Chapel with burial following in Mount Hope Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon on Saturday at the funeral home.

She was born in Florence, a daughter of the late Orum Levant Capp Turner and Evelyn Allen Turner. She retired from DuPont in 1985.

Mrs. Segars was a member of First Baptist Church in Florence for 68 years. She taught Sunday School and played piano for her classes. She also enjoyed golf and gardening.

A loving and nurturing family member, she is survived by her son, Kirk G. (Linda) Segars of Florence; four grandchildren, Kirk J. Segars and Lindsey Segars (Corey) Miles, of Columbia, Hope S. (Stephen) Mahaffey of Summerville, and Kent D. (Wendy) Segars, II, of Murrells Inlet, SC; and a great-grandson, Ethan Mahaffey.

She was predeceased by her husband of 64 years, Cyril Segars; a son, Kent D. Segars; three sisters, Patsy Turner, Alice Turner Saverance, and Myrtle Turner Matthews; and a brother, Hubert Turner.
