FLORENCE Barry Dean Ford, 53, died Wednesday, February 10, 2016, from injuries sustained in an industrial accident in Selma, Alabama.
Funeral services will be 3:00 p.m., Monday, February 15, 2016, at Calvary Baptist Church in Florence. Burial will follow in Hopewell Presbyterian Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Sunday, at Waters-Powell Funeral Home and other times at the home of Shirley and Mike Player.
Barry was born in Florence, a son of Lois Gibbs Ford and the late John Billy Ford. He graduated from Clemson University in 1984 with a bachelors degree in Chemical Engineering. He began his career at Stone Container in Florence and worked as a respected figure in the paper industry for over thirty years, most recently for Zilkha Biomass out of Houston, TX. Barry was known for his leadership skills and commitment to safety.
Barry was a former member of Calvary Baptist Church in Florence. He was an avid sports fan, especially baseball, and was a passionate Clemson Tiger fan. Most of all, Barry loved his family, whom he leaves to cherish his memory.
Survivors, in addition to his mother, Lois G. Ford, of Claussen, SC, include his wife, Dana Eskridge Ford of Spring, TX; two sons, Andrew Mead Ford of Sacramento, CA, and Joshua Ryan Ford of Spring, TX; a sister, Shirley (Mike) Player of Florence; and a brother, Gerald (Gloria) Ford of Florence.
The family would like to express special thanks to the doctors and staff of the Trauma-Burn Intensive Care Unit at the University of Alabama, Birmingham, Hospital for their excellent medical care and compassion.
