FLORENCE - Betty S. "Cookie" Campbell passed away December 19, 2013, after a brief illness. Cookie was born in Florence and graduated from McClenaghan High School. She was the daughter of the late Archie Gilbert Snipes and Mae Thomas Snipes. She was married to her high school sweetheart, William P. "Billy" Campbell for 66 years.
She was preceded in death by her seven brothers and sisters: Gladys Sansbury, Edna Young, Mary Anderson, Joe Snipes, A. G. Snipes, Milton Snipes, and Bobby Snipes.
Cookie was a member of the Club of Twenty Gardens, Cosmos Literary Club, Florentine Society and Calvary Baptist Church.
Cookie never met a stranger and loved being with her "lady friends." The happiest times of her life were when she was with her children and grandchildren. Cookie brought sunshine into the lives of everyone she met.
Left to cherish her memories are her husband, Billy Campbell; her son, Scotty (Pam) Campbell of Lake City; two daughters, Paige Campbell Wright of Florence and Melissa (John) Goodson of Sewanee, TN; seven grandchildren, Billy Campbell, Ashley Campbell, Whit Campbell, Savannah Wright, Madison Wright, Slater Goodson and Mason Goodson; and also, her special friend, George Leonard.

Dr. Smith, Dr. Fox, McLeod Hospice and the great ladies at Comfort Keepers.
The family will receive friends at Waters-Powell Funeral Home on Sunday, December 22, 2013, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Funeral service will be Monday, December 23, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. at Calvary Baptist Church. A private interment will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery.
