Betty Lou Harllee

FLORENCE Betty Lou Watson Harllee, 84, passed away Monday, December 8, 2014, after an illness.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Thursday, December 11, 2014, at Ridgecrest Baptist Church with burial following in Mount Hope Cemetery, directed by Waters-Powell Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m., Thursday, at the church.

Betty Lou Girl Watson Harllee was born in Charleston, SC, a daughter of the late John Duncan and Thelma Louise McInville Watson, and was raised in Florence. She graduated from McClenaghan High School in 1949 and the McLeod Infirmary School of Nursing in 1952. She was a registered nurse with Drs. Owen, Zeigler and Adams over thirty years until her retirement in 1991. She and her late husband, Arthur Howard Peanut Harllee, moved to Summerton in 1991 to enjoy their retirement. After more than 60 years of marriage, Peanut passed away in 2013.

She was a charter member of Ridgecrest Baptist Church in Florence, and attended Santee Baptist Church in Manning.

A loving, caring, Christian wife, mother, and grandmother, she is survived by three sons, Howard Duncan (Pam) Harllee of Florence, Bryant King (Elizabeth) Harllee of Southport, NC, and David Colvin Harllee of Florence; a daughter, Rebecca Luanne Harllee of Florence; seven grandchildren, Peter Michael P.J. Wanco, Jr., Trevor Adam Wanco, Charles David Hunter Harllee, Taylor Rebecca Harllee, Cameron Cline Harllee, Bryson Kiser Harllee, and Austin Watson Harllee; and a sister, Barbara Brown of Pacolet, SC.

She was predeceased by an infant son, Arthur Howard Harllee, Jr., and a brother, John Duncan Watson, Jr.
