Bobbie Jean Batchelor

FLORENCE Bobbie Jean Sawyer Batchelor, 80, widow of Thurman W. Batchelor, died Thursday, June 9, 2016, after a courageous battle with cancer.

A funeral service will be held at 3:30 p.m., Friday, June 10, 2016, in the Chapel of Waters-Powell Funeral Home with burial following in Mount Hope Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 3:00 to 3:30 p.m., Friday, at the funeral home.

She was born in Zion, South Carolina, a daughter of the late Harry Lee and Etha Frye Sawyer. She received her nursing degree from Saunders Memorial Nursing School and was retired from the Johnsonville School District.

Mrs. Batchelor was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Florence, and enjoyed water aerobics with her friends at the YMCA.

Our loving Granny is survived by her daughter, Gail Batchelor Weaver and husband Robert Legrand Weaver of Florence; her son, Dr. Alan Dale Batchelor and wife Lynette McDaniel Batchelor of Cary, NC; four grandchildren, Rachel Weaver Conklin (Dr. David Conklin) and Rhonda Batchelor Weaver, both of Nashville, TN, Stanton Dale Batchelor (Carrie Perdue Batchelor) of Cary, NC, and Jenna Lynette Batchelor of Raleigh, NC; and three great-grandchildren, Everett David Conklin of Nashville, and Ethan Dale Batchelor and Natalie Ann Batchelor, both of Cary; a sister, Dorthy Sawyer of Darlington; two brothers, Harry Lee Sawyer, Jr. (Priscilla) of Darlington and Roger L. Sawyer of Florence; and two granddogs, Roxy and Layla.

She was predeceased by two sisters, Jeanette Sawyer Edwards and Angeline Sawyer Gainey.
