Bobby B. Filyaw

          FLORENCE – Bobby Boyd Filyaw, 85, died Thursday, November 28, 2024, after a brief illness.

          Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, December 4, 2024, at St. Luke Lutheran Church with visitation one hour prior to the service beginning at 10:00 a.m.  Burial will follow in Florence Memorial Gardens, directed by Waters-Powell Funeral Home.

          He was born in Florence County, SC, a son of the late I.D. and Azalee Prosser Filyaw.  He graduated from J.C. Lynch High School and was retired from DuPont after many years.

          Bobby was a faithful member of St. Luke Lutheran Church.

          Survivors are his wife of 35 years, Ruth Coble Filyaw of Florence; a daughter, Wendy R. Nichols of Charleston, SC; a son, Jeffrey S. Starrett of Port Angeles, Washington; a brother, Billy D. Filyaw of Coward, SC; three grandchildren, Michelle Nichols Herd (Christopher) of Aberdeen, Scotland, Kevin Nichols of Charleston, SC, and Sara Elizabeth Starrett of Seattle, Wash.; a great-grandson, Alastair Herd, and another great-grandson on the way; and a sister-in-law, Sandy Filyaw of Marion, SC.

          He was predeceased by a sister, Betty Filyaw, and two brothers, Charles B. Filyaw and Jimmy J. Filyaw.

          Memorials may be made to St. Luke Lutheran Church, 1201 Cherokee Road, Florence, SC  29501.
