FLORENCE – Carolyn Campbell “Tootsie" Lessmeister, 86, died on the morning of April 1, 2024, after a long illness at home with her family.
She was born on February 14, 1938, in Williamsburg County, a daughter of the late Maggie Gamble and Furman Campbell.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Eugene Lessmeister; two brothers, Bernie Campbell and J.W. Campbell; a special son, Eric Lessmeister; and a brother-in-law, Talmadge Baker.
Tootsie was a paralegal for many years and retired from the Law Firm of Nettles, Turbeville, and Reddeck in Lake City, SC. She was active in many civic organizations throughout the years in the Florence area.
Surviving are her daughters, Kim Percival (Alan) of Florence, and Debbie Haimes (David) of High Point, NC; special daughters, Barbara Lewis (Jim) of Florence, and Janet Lessmeister (Al Coward) of Florence; special son, Kim Lessmeister, of Florence; a sister, Sarah Baker, of Asheboro, NC; a brother, Tommy Campbell (Barbara) of Florence; many nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, all of whom she adored.
A graveside memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, May 17, 2024, at Florence National Cemetery, directed by Waters-Powell Funeral Home.
