Carroll Ward Evans

FLORENCE Carroll Anita Ward Evans, 56, died Tuesday, August 5, 2014, at home surrounded by her children and grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, August 8, 2014, in Lebanon Free Will Baptist Church with burial following in Lebanon Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, at Waters-Powell Funeral Home.

She was born in Florence, a daughter of the late Wade Hampton and June Steen Ward. She earned her nursing degree from Florence-Darlington Technical College in 1988 and was a registered nurse for 25 years with Bruce Hospital, Florence General and Carolinas Hospital System.

Carroll was a member of Lebanon Free Will Baptist Church. She was also a member of the Florence Shag Club.

A loving mother, Nanny, sister, and friend, she is survived by two daughters, April E. (Tommy) Wright and Jennifer Evans, both of Florence; two brothers, Andy (Kathy) Ward and Phillip Ward, both of Effingham; two granddaughters, Caroline June Wright and Chamberlain Paige Wright, both of Florence; two nieces, Angela W. (Brian) Hicks of Sardis, SC, and Melissa W. (Mike) Hildreth of Scranton; and three great-nephews, Ethan Hildreth, Jackson and Owen Hicks.

The family would like to express special thanks to Carolinas Home Health and Hospice, Adams Arms Private Sitting Service, and Dr. Ziad Skaff for their extraordinary care of Carroll. The outpouring of love and support from her family and friends during her illness was especially appreciated.
