Christine Rossetti Jackson English, 87, passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 12, 2014, in her home.
Mrs. English was born Oct. 19, 1927 in Sumter, the daughter of the late Rollins Timothy Jackson and Annie Lou Newman Jackson. She was a graduate of Edmunds High School in Sumter and married the late Ernest Rob English on April 27, 1947.
She was a homemaker, devoted to her husband and their four children. She was a member of Southside Baptist Church for more than 60 years. She was an active participant for 10 years in Just For Women Bible Studies with Betsy Byrd.
She is survived by her children, Brenda English Harrison, Ernest Rob Ernie English Jr. (Lynda), Christa English Nivens (Scott) and Rosemary English Williamson; grandchildren, Matthew English, Katie Koon, Sandy Nivens, Lindsey Altman, Allison Talton, Julia Carlson, Heather Williamson, Marie Williamson and Kristie Williamson; and 8 great-grandchildren. She leaves behind a special friend, Lewis Jordan of Lamar, and a host of nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Friday, Nov. 14, 2014, at Waters-Powell Funeral Home from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Nov. 15, at 3:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Florence Memorial Gardens.
