Clara Anne Williamson

       Clara Anne Whitesides Williamson, 84, died Tuesday, November 11, 2025, after an illness.

       A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, November 15, 2025, at Old Purity Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Chester, South Carolina, directed by Waters-Powell Funeral Home of Florence.

       Mrs. Williamson was born in Henderson, SC, a daughter of the late Robert Fred Whitesides, Sr. and Rosalie Wyman Whitesides. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree and completed her Juris Doctor degree from Mercer University in 1964. As an attorney, she worked with the National Labor Relations Board in the Atlanta, GA, Regional Office. She was also the first woman to open a private law practice in High Point, North Carolina. As a judge, she served on the U.S. Court of Appeals in the 4th Circuit of the Commonwealth of Virginia. Her last position was Administrative Law Judge for the Alcoholic Beverage Control Board, Commonwealth of Virginia.

       In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Charles Michael Williamson.

       Survivors include two brothers, Robert F. Whitesides, Jr. (Melba) of Florence, SC, and Joel Whitesides (Rita) of Rock Hill, SC; a sister, Judy Abrahams (Clark) of Cary, NC; nieces and nephews, Wyman Whitesides (wife, Jordan, and son, Wyman, Jr.) of Charlotte, NC, Brad Abrahams (wife, Alex, and son, Clark ) of Clayton, NC, Laura Lobo (husband, James, and children, Connor, Beckett, and Margaret Anne) of Greensboro, NC, and Mary Frampton Whitesides of Rock Hill, SC.

       She was a faithful follower of Christ. She attended Arlington Presbyterian Church, where she served as an elder and circle leader.
