Donald Wayne Potter, 90, died Sunday, February 1, 2026, after a brief illness.
A graveside service will be held at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, February 8, 2026, at Mount Hope Cemetery, directed by Waters-Powell Funeral Home.
Mr. Potter was born in Florence, a son of the late Harry D. and Ruby McLeod Potter. He graduated from McClenaghan High School. Mr. Potter served his country in the U.S. Air Force and the Air Force Reserves for a period of time. He was retired from Stone Container (now WestRock).
He enjoyed reading, watching Westerns, watching USC Gamecocks sports (especially women’s basketball), and listening to country music.
He was predeceased by his wife, Gladys Capps Potter; and a step-son, Michael Polk.
Survivors include his step-daughter, Angela L. Polk, of Florence; three daughters from his first marriage, Deobra Dugie (Larry), Dianna White (Bobby), and Deniese Guerrero (Mark), all of Texas; a brother, James M. Potter (Hagood), of Florence; a niece and nephew, Meredith Potter Coxe and James H. Potter; and a number of grandchildren and extended family members.
