Donna Jean Newsome

          FLORENCE – Donna Jean Broach Newsome, 66, died Tuesday, October 7, 2025, after a brief illness.

          Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Thursday, October 9, 2025, at Waters-Powell Funeral Home Chapel with burial following in Florence Memorial Gardens.

          She was born in Charleston, SC, a daughter of Betty Jean Moore Clark and the late William Wesley Broach, Sr.  Donna was a cafeteria assistant at Royal Elementary School in Florence for 37 years.  She was a member of Gregg Avenue Church of Christ.

          In addition to her father, she was predeceased by her husband, Julian Edsel Newsome.

          Survivors include her mother, Betty Clark, of Charleston; her brother, William Wesley “Wes” Broach, Jr., (Darlene) of Cheraw, SC; two sisters, Deborah Gainey of Florence and Shelley Clark Edwards (Danny) of Charleston; her step-mother, Donna Jean Broach, of Florence; two step-brothers, Douglas Scott Iles of Charleston and Demaree J. Iles of Brandon, South Dakota; and a number of nieces and nephews.
