FLORENCE Doris Evelyn McClain Sullivan, 88, died Saturday, August 3, 2013, in a Florence health care center after an illness.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 7, 2013, in Mount Hope Mausoleum Chapel, directed by Waters-Powell Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, at the Mausoleum Chapel.
The eleventh of twelve children, she was born in Abbeville County, SC, a daughter of the late Lawrence M. and Claudia Pearman McClain. She was educated in the public schools of Abbeville County, and after moving to Florence in January, 1967, with her husband, she went to nursing school and became an LPN. She worked in the office of Dr. Myers Hicks until his retirement, and then continued her medical career in the offices of Dr. Lloyd Miller.
Mrs. Sullivan was a member of First Baptist Church in Florence, and the Joy Sunday School Class.
She was predeceased by two sons, Eric Sherwood Sullivan and Anthony Wayne Sullivan; and her eleven siblings.
Survivors include her husband of 69 years, R. M. Sullivan, of Florence; a son, Marshall Gregg Sullivan of Florence; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
