Earl Donald Lewis

FLORENCE, SC Earl Donald Lewis of Florence, died Wednesday, September 18, 2013.

Earl was born Dec. 5, 1929, a son of the late Landon and Lena Lewis. He was a long time resident of Carter County, TN, working at Raytheon, Sperry and Univac of Bristol. After his retirement he served as a deacon at Little Doe Free Will Baptist Church until moving to Florence, SC in 2005.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy DeNiro Lewis of Florence; children: Deborah Welker (John) of Florence, SC, Thomas Lewis (Nicky) of Apex, NC, Theresa Davis (Steve) of Fleming Island, FL; 9 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; and sister Mary Richesin of Elizabethton, TN.

He was preceded in death by his wife Wilma Jean Whitehead Lewis; 3 sisters: Lily Groce, Virgie Groce, Mable Teague; and 2 brothers: Freeman (Hover) and Omer Lewis.

A funeral service will be held in Florence at 12:00 noon on Saturday, Sept. 21, 2013, in Waters-Powell Funeral Home Chapel, with visitation one hour prior to the service. A funeral service will be at 4:00 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 22, 2013, at Memorial Funeral Chapel in Elizabethton, TN, with visitation one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at 10:00 a.m., Monday, Sept. 23, 2013, in Whitehead Cemetery in Hampton, TN.
