Elizabeth "Dolly" Brunson

           Elizabeth Bonnoitt “Dolly” Brunson, 87, of Florence, S.C. passed away on Sunday, December 29, 2024.  Graveside Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, December 31, 2024 at Mt. Hope Cemetery at 11:00 a.m.

           Mrs. Brunson was born on September 17, 1937, in Florence, S.C., daughter of the late Ernest and Milton Dupre Stackley Bonnoitt.  She graduated from McClenaghan High School in 1955 and from McLeod Infirmary Nursing School in 1958.  In 1959, she married Edwin T. “Tommy” Brunson and she and Tommy had four children.

           She was a lifelong member of Central United Methodist Church in Florence.  She served as a Brownie and Girl Scout leader.  She was also a long-time member of The Assembly and the Hoe and Hope Garden Club. She was a wonderful cook, and her dishes and recipes were enjoyed by family and friends all over Florence.

           Dolly is survived by her husband of 65 years, Tommy; sons,  Bubba (Meg) and Ernest; daughter, Marian; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her son, Gene Brunson; sisters, Alice Segars, Millie Yarborough, Helen Tinsley, and Sue Edens; and brother, Ernest Bonnoitt.

           The family would like to give special thanks to McLeod Hospice and Josephine Nero for their gracious care for Dolly.
