FLORENCE - Faye Thornton, age 86, died Friday, April 17, 2015, at a local hospital after a long illness. She was born in Florence County and was the youngest child of the late Lillie Mae Gore and Lyde Barney Montrose.
Funeral services will be 3:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 21, 2015, at Central United Methodist Church with burial in Mount Hope Cemetery immediately following. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Monday, at Waters-Powell Funeral Home, and other times at the home of Lydia and Jim King.
Faye was predeceased by her husband, David Coit Moody, Jr, her second husband, James Graham Thornton, siblings Rudolph Larue (Louise) Montrose, Irene Montrose (Karl) Batdorff, and Gerry Montrose Allen. She will be missed by her children Dr. David C. (Patricia) Moody III of Aiken and Lydia Moody (Jim) King of Florence, 6 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren, sister-in-law Jennie Moody Blackmon of Darlington, brother-in-law Joe L. Allen of Morgantown, WV, very special nieces and nephews and friends Maxine and Frank Davis of Myrtle Beach.
Faye loved sunrises and sunsets especially at Myrtle Beach and was very proud of the ministry of her Church, Central United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the Mary Motte, Erin Glenn Circle.
