Frances King Gardner

FLORENCE Frances King Gardner, 84, died Thursday, December 10, 2015, in a local hospital after an illness.

A memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m., Sunday, December 13, 2015, at Waters-Powell Funeral Home. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

She was born in McColl, South Carolina, a daughter of the late Merritt and Aileen King. She graduated from Winthrop College and was a retired teacher. Ms. Gardner taught children in Florence School District 1, including gifted and talented students, and in Kingstree, South Carolina.

She was an amazing woman that never met a stranger and was loved by many. She also greatly enjoyed cooking and gardening.

Surviving are her daughter, Gayle Gardner Morgan (Simon Powell), of Florence; and two special friends, Cindi Stempien and John Jordan, both of Timmonsville.
