FLORENCE Franklin Carlyle Hall, 73, died Tuesday, January 14, 2014, at his residence after an illness.
Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m., Saturday, January 18, 2014, in Ebenezer Baptist Church with burial following in Florence Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Friday, at Waters-Powell Funeral Home.
Mr. Hall was born in Roxboro, North Carolina, a son of the late Charlie Albert and Addie Newton Hall. He was in sales for many years and retired from Peterbilt Trucking Company after 20 years of service.
Mr. Hall was active in the Florence community, where he had resided for 49 years. He was a member and past president of Delmae Ruritan Club, and served the South Florence High School Booster Club as president. He was also president of the Florence Junior Football League for many years, and was director of officials for South Carolina private schools in all sports.
He was a volunteer and was instrumental in organizing the Howe Springs Fire Department in Florence.
Mr. Hall was an avid golfer and was a member of Oakdale Country Club, and served on its board of directors for two terms.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, JoAnn Allen Hall, a daughter, Terri Hall Goode, and two sons, Franklin Allen Hall (Cindy McDougal) and Jon Rodney Hall (Christy), all of Florence; three sisters, Veronica Long of Henderson, NC, Sarah Pennington and Barbara Ann Jones, both of Roxboro, NC; two brothers, Norman C. Hall of Roxboro, NC, and Donald Keith Hall of Greeensboro, NC; and eight grandchildren, Austin Goode, Matthew Hall, Madison Hall, Hannah Hall, Charley Goode, Meredith Hall, Emily Hall, and Hannah McDougal, all of Florence.
