Frieda Christopher Guilford

A Message from Perry Guilford, grandson:

To all my friends and family, it is with a sad heart I tell all we have lost a loving and caring woman today, October 9, 2015. Frieda Guilford, aka Mama G passed this morning in Florence, SC. She is reunited with her husband of 64 years, Charles F. "Lucky Guilford, and her two sons she laid to rest, Charles F. Guilford, Jr., and Perry Guilford, Sr.

She retired from nursing after 36 years working in obstetrics and gynecolgy; I can only imagine how many lives she helped bring into this world at McLeod Hospital in Florence, Naval Hospital in Beaufort and Beaufort Memorial Hospital. Upon retiring, she stayed by her husband's side day and night for 10 years after he suffered an aneurysm. After his passing, she met a friend and companion in Ralph Hayes. They took care of each other in their own special ways and the last 3 years she was very happy and lived life to the fullest.

She is survived by myself and 2 other grandchildren, Mandy Guilford and Christopher Corbit Guilford; 9 great-grandchildren, George Guilford, III, Kimmy Guilford, Nicholas Guilford, Taylor Guilford, Tyler Guilford, Ashley Barker, Avery Guilford, Grace Guilford and Gavin Guilford; daughters-in-law, Linda Guilford, Chauntelle Miller Guilford and Debbie Hayes.

A Graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, October 13, 2015, at Mount Hope Cemetery in Florence, SC, where she will be laid to rest with her family. Waters-Powell Funeral Home is taking care of services. Family visitation will be announced.

God bless you "Mama G," the Lord has truly received an angel. You will be truly missed and loved always.
