Glenn [Kricor] Ohanesian, Lieutenant Commander U.S.N.R., 102, died May 1, 2026, son of Kricor Aprahamian Ohanesian and Frances Louise (Cunningham) Ohanesian, both World War I U.S. Army veterans. Glenn was predeceased by his first wife Muriel E. Verity. And, in 1976, by Olga (P. Fedun) Ohanesian, his second wife. He was predeceased by both of his parents named above, a daughter, Alexis Gail, a younger brother, LCOL Victor Ohanesian, USMC, KIA in Vietnam in 1967, and his sister-in-law Mrs. Eudora Anderson Ohanesian. Glenn was a graduate of the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy (King's Point), '45, and the Baruch College, '69 with an MBA and CCNY with an MBA. During World War II, he served as a merchant marine officer (and combat veteran) on Liberty ships in the Atlantic and Mediterranean Sea. During the Korean War, Glenn served in the Pacific Theatre in the U.S. Navy as Navigator, U.S.S. Monrovia (APA 31), during “Operation Bluejay” and various other European/Middle-East operations with the Sixth Fleet. Glenn also worked over thirty-nine years for the New York Telephone Co., rising to Manager, Automated Plant Property and Cost Results/Payroll, Manhattan and Upstate. In retirement, he served as president of a large cooperative housing company in The Bronx, New York, for several years. He served on boards of several volunteer civic and other organizations, including as instructor in a local computer club and instructor in Advanced Piloting for the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary, Hudson, Florida.
Glenn is survived by his beloved wife Beatrice M. Duonnolo Ohanesian (nee Salvati). He is also survived by a son, Gregory H. Ohanesian (Barbara), an attorney and part-time equity judge. In addition, he is survived by a stepson, John M. Fedun, CE., PE. (Doris). Glenn is also survived by a step-daughter Linda McKenna and his name’s sake grandson, Glenn Victor Ohanesian (Karolan). There are eight grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. Other survivors are Glenn's nieces Victoria Lee Ohanesian Prince, Pamela O. Masson, and Judith O. Tredway. There are also two cousins, William Heath and Janice Richardson, both of whom live in Indiana. Lastly, he remembers fondly the next to last surviving shipmate of the Korean War, Mr. William L. West of Ohio.
A funeral service will be held at 6:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 5, 2026, in the Chapel of Waters-Powell Funeral Home, 400 S. Dargan St., Florence, SC 29506. Interment will take place in Woodlawn Cemetery, The Bronx, New York.
