Mrs. Hallene Huggins Cameron, age 87, of Florence, South Carolina, passed away on April 6, 2025. Born on February 1, 1938, in Hemingway, South Carolina, she was the cherished daughter of the late Dewitt and Hallie Huggins.
Mrs. Cameron was known for her grace, strength, and unwavering dedication to her family, friends, and church. A devoted member of Mizpah Baptist Church, she served faithfully in many capacities throughout her life. In her younger years, she taught Sunday School, led the Girls in Action (GA’s), and played an instrumental role in nurturing the youth group. While her grandfather built churches of brick and mortar, Mrs. Cameron built hearts and minds, shaping the lives of countless young people through her faithful ministry.
She is survived by her sons, Randall Cameron (Rita) and Rodney Cameron; grandchildren, Jackson Cameron, Adam Cameron, Sara Cameron, Blake Cameron and William Cameron; great-grandchildren, Harper, Sawyer, Wilder, and baby girl Gatlin, expected soon; and a brother, Ken Huggins (Janet). Each one will carry forward her legacy of love, strength, and faith.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, William “Billy C” Cameron; her dear son, Rhett Cameron; a brother, Cecil Huggins; and a sister, Louise Owens.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Thursday, April 10, 2025, at Mizpah Baptist Church with entombment following in Mount Hope Cemetery Mausoleum. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 9, at Waters-Powell Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Mizpah Baptist Church Building Fund, in honor of Mrs. Cameron’s generous spirit and lifetime of service.
