Homer Dean Thomerson Obituary

          Dean Thomerson, 77, of Manning, SC, passed away peacefully on March 1, 2024. Born in Greensboro, NC, he was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, who will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Dean was a dedicated employee at CSX Transportation for 44 years where he retired as the Director of General Claims for the Southern Region in Florence, SC. He was known for his kindness, sense of humor, and his unwavering faith in Christ.
          Dean's faith was the cornerstone of his life, and he served as a deacon and the chairman of the deacons at Calvary Baptist Church, where he also taught Sunday school for many years. He touched the lives of many through his ministry and dedication to serving others.
          In his retirement, Dean fully enjoyed his time at the lake, surrounded by family and friends. He loved boating, watching sports, taking cruises, eating breakfast with his buddies, and traveling with his best friend, Doris. His joyful spirit and love for life were evident to all who knew him.
          He was preceded in death by his parents, Homer and Mary Wilmoth Thomerson, his son, Michael Thomerson, and his sister, Linda Fleming.
          He is survived by his loving wife, Doris; three children, Krista (Hal) Chassereau, Kevin (Sandy) Thomerson, and Jennifer (Blake) Stewart; seven grandchildren, Macy (Matt) Medlock, Emma (Cesar) Jimenez, Tanner Chassereau, Gavin Crawford, Braylon Stewart, Eleanor Stewart, and Lincoln Stewart; one great-grandson, Xavier Jimenez; one sister, Elizabeth (Creed) Beverly; one brother, David (Judy) Thomerson; and many beloved nieces, nephews, and friends who are like family.
          Visitation will be held on March 9, 2024, at Calvary Baptist Church at 1:00 pm with a celebration of Dean’s life to follow at 3:00 pm.
          In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Calvary Baptist Church. Dean’s legacy of faith, love, and service will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know him. He will be deeply missed but forever cherished in our hearts.
