Horst Ernst Alfred Bräutigam

         FLORENCE – Horst Bräutigam, 85, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, March 16, 2025.  Horst was born in Remscheid, Germany on March 6, 1940, the only child of Helmut and Elfreide Bräutigam.  Horst finished his schooling and then completed an internship with Klingelnberg GmbH in Remscheid.

         As a young man, Horst met and married the love of his life, Rosmarie “Rosi” Reschke Bräutigam.  After traveling extensively while working for Klingelnberg, Horst moved Rosi and Anja, his young daughter, to the United States in 1970.  There he started a joint venture between Klingelnberg and Hannaco in Florence, South Carolina.  Through hard work and sharp business acumen, Horst helped Hannaco, now International Knife and Saw, Inc., become successful and experience significant growth.  He retired as President of the company in 1992.

         Horst enjoyed many hobbies throughout his life, always wanting to research and learn new things.  He was an expert gardener, loved fishing, and traveling the world with his family.  But the greatest joy was his two grandchildren, Joshua and Lydia.

         Horst was predeceased by his parents, losing his father during World War II.  He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Rosi; his daughter Anja Bräutigam Barefoot (Walt); and two grandchildren, Joshua Hilton Barefoot and Lydia Rosmarie Barefoot.

         The family will have a private funeral service.  Horst will be entombed in the mausoleum at Florence Memorial Gardens.
