Jack Green, 91, died Wednesday, July 23, 2025, after an illness.
He was born in Cerro Gordo, North Carolina, a son of the late Cornie Wynn and Lillie Mae Edwards Green. After serving in the United States Army, he was employed as a road foreman with CSX Railroad for 44 years until his retirement.
Jack was a faithful member of Calvary Baptist Church and the Philip Dowling Sunday School Class.
A man of strong faith, he put God first and his beloved family second his entire life.
He was predeceased by his wife of 51 years (and mother of his children), Geneva Green; his second wife, Margaret Green; two brothers, James Edward Green and Cornie Wynn Green, Jr.; two sisters, Hilda Kathleen Green Whitley and Dorothy Nell Greene Thompson.
Surviving are his two daughters, Renee Green Jeffers and Jackie Green Foster, both of Florence; Jeff Jeffers, also of Florence; two sisters, Betsy Louise Green Patterson and Virginia Mae Green Norris (Jimmy); a brother, David Kenneth Green (Vivian); three grandsons, James Ryan Foster (Tracie), Jack Keegan Foster (Michelle Handley), and William Evan Jeffers, all of Florence; and four great-grandchildren, McKinnley Ryan Foster, Mary Wells Foster, Jackson Lee Foster, and Riley Grace Foster.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Sunday, July 27, 2025, at Calvary Baptist Church with burial following in Mount Hope Cemetery, directed by Waters-Powell Funeral Home. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service beginning at 1:00 p.m.
