James Albert Lassiter, Sr.

FLORENCE - James Albert Lassiter, Sr., 90, died Friday, July 24, 2015 at his residence after an illness.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday, July 26, 2015 at Waters-Powell Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Florence County Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:00 2:00 p.m. Sunday.

Mr. Lassiter was born in Chowan County, NC, a son of the late John Lee and Jennie Hollowell Lassiter. He graduated from Elon University, and was a US Army Veteran of World War II and the Korean War. A resident of Florence for over 50 years, Mr. Lassiter was a member of First Baptist Church, where he served as a Deacon and had been active in Sunday School.

After his retirement from Equifax Inc., he was a Real Estate Agent in Florence. Mr. Lassiter was also past President of the Pee Dee Kiwanis Club and the Heart Associates. He was also a long time volunteer at McLeod Regional Medical Center.

Surviving are his wife, Dorothy B. Lassiter of Florence; three sons, James A. Lassiter, Jr. of Emporia, VA, Phillip W. (Carla) Lassiter of Pawleys Island, and Michael D. (Betsy) Lassiter of Florence; two grandchildren, Britt Lassiter and Brinkley L. Allen; and one great grandchild, Ace Lassiter.
