Jan English Jeffers

FLORENCE Jan English Jeffers, 65, passed away on Sunday, April 10, 2016, at McLeod Hospice House after a brief illness.

Jan was born on March 29, 1951, in Florence, SC, to her father, the late Billy Jeffers and mother, Wanda Jeffers, who survives her. Jan graduated from McClenaghan High School and Francis Marion University with a degree in Psychology.

Jan was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.

Jan enjoyed gardening and made empty spaces into beautiful places. Jan was an avid Gamecock fan and either attended or watched all of the football, basketball, and baseball games on a regular basis. Jan loved all creations, especially her cats. She loved music. Jan was an extraordinary cook, preparing country meals straight from her visits to the Farmers Market. Jan was a caring, brave, and selfless person.

Jan loved her family and friends. In addition to her mother, she is survived by her brother Jeff Jeffers; her sister, Jill Jeffers Gibson and husband Gregory Gibson; her niece, Lindsey Gibson, and her beloved nephew, Wil Jeffers. Jan was preceded in death by her longtime companion Don Merchant.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, April 13, 2016, at 1:00 p.m. at Calvary Baptist Church in Florence. A memorial service will follow at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Mike Mills presiding.
