Jerry Rhett Sansbury

          Jerry Rhett Sansbury, 87, died Friday, July 25, 2025, after a brief illness.

          Funeral services will be 12:00 noon, Tuesday, July 29, 2025, in the chapel of Waters-Powell Funeral Home.  Burial will follow in Mount Hope Cemetery with military honors.  The family will greet friends one hour prior to the funeral beginning at 11:00 a.m.

          He was born in Florence, a son of the late Herman and Virginia Morris Sansbury.  After serving in the United States Navy for four years, he made his career in banking as a District Vice-President with BB&T.  He spent most of his career in Spartanburg, SC, returning to Florence after his retirement.

          He was a former member of the Jaycee’s and was an avid tennis player.

          He is survived by two special nieces, Dale Jeffords (Dennis) of Florence and Pam Cummings (Dr. Ronald) of Tallahassee, FL; two step-daughters, Heather Dolan (Shawn) an Michelle Darden (Travis), both of Mount Pleasant, SC; five step-grandchildren, Christina, Maureen and Kathryn Dolan, and Hoyt and Alexander Darden; and a number of great-nieces and -nephews.
