FLORENCE – John Henry Davis, Jr., 79, died Tuesday, March 11, 2025, after an illness.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Thursday, March 13, 2025, in Waters-Powell Funeral Home Chapel with visitation one hour prior to the service beginning at 1:00 pm. Burial will follow in Mount Hope Cemetery.
He was born in Eureka, North Carolina, the son of John Henry and Siddie Belle Howell Davis. A man of many talents, he was a truck driver with Mercury Motor Express and most recently he was employed as a production operator with Wellman Industries. He was a farmer as a young man.
He was the ultimate outdoorsman and an avid fisherman and hunter. A true family man, he never missed an opportunity to see his grandchildren’s sports activities.
Mr. Davis was a faithful member of NewSpring Church.
Survivors include his wife, Gray Tingen Davis, of the home; a son, Jay Davis (Holly); a daughter, Dina Davis Camlin (Steve); four grandchildren, Dalton Davis, Kiersten Camlin (Chase Hare), Isabella Gray Davis, and Harrison Davis, all of Florence; two sisters, Emmalene Hinson (David, deceased) of Jefferson, GA, and Sally Blackmon (Tony) of Swansboro, NC; a brother-in-law, James Colvin, of Florence; and a number of extended family members.
He was predeceased by a daughter, Amy Nichole “Nikki” Davis; and four sisters, Easter Mae Walker (Harold), Dorothy Newell (Bill), Helen Uzell (Milton) and Vonnie Bradshaw.
