Joyce Allen Broach

FLORENCE - Joyce Allen Broach, 68, of Effingham, South Carolina, passed away on Febuary 4, 2016. Born January 24, 1948 in Florence, SC, she was the daughter of the late Gracie Hudson Allen and Chalmos Logan Allen.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Jimmie William Broach; and her daughter, Michelle McKenzie. She is survived by her son, William O'Neil Broach (Sarah); a sister, Nancy Eaddy; five brothers, Jackie (Cheryl), Phil (Debbie), Larry (Linda), C.L. (Joyce) Allen, and Ray Spires; four grandchildren, Jamie, Liam, Casey, and Brandy; and three great-grandchildren, Jackson, Jonah, and McKenzie.

Joyce proudly worked for over 30 years as the first female (nation-wide) knitting supervisor for Hanes (formerly Sara Lee/Leggs). After plant closures she worked an additional five years at Johnson Control. Joyce was a selfless person who enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and found joy in taking care of others. Those who knew her can attest to her values in faith and friendship.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Sunday, February 7, 2016, at Lebanon Free Will Baptist Church with visitation one hour prior to the funeral at the church. Burial will follow at Lebanon Cemetery, directed by Waters-Powell Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Lebanon Free Will Baptist Church in Effingham, SC; or if a donation cannot be given, Joyce would appreciate an unexpected and unsolicited act of kindness for someone less fortunate in her memory.
