FLORENCE – Julian Edsel Newsome, 73, died Tuesday, March 26, 2024, after an illness.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday, March 30, 2024, in Waters-Powell Funeral Home Chapel with visitation one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in Florence Memorial Gardens.
He was born in Timmonsville, SC, a son of the late Thomas C. Newsome, Sr., and Lou Ellen Weaver Newsome. He retired from Merita Bakery in Florence after 35 years of employment and was a member of Gregg Avenue Church of Christ.
Survivors include his wife, Donna Jean Newsome, of Florence; three brothers, Tommy Newsome (Brenda) of Effingham, Ronnie Newsome (Belinda) and Lewis Newsome (Dotty), both of Timmonsville; three sisters, Brenda Hilson of Monroe, NC, Carolyn Hutchinson of Newport, NC, and Ceal Pritchett (Robin) of Maggie Valley, NC; his mother-in-law, Donna Jean Broach, of Florence; three brothers-in-law, William Wesley Broach, Jr. of Florence, Scott Iles of Sevierville, TN, and Demaree Iles of Brandon, SD; a sister-in-law, Deborah Gainey, of Florence; and many nieces and nephews.
