Karen Boyd Ray

FLORENCE Karen Boyd Ray, 66, died Tuesday, December 23, 2014, at McLeod Hospice House after an extended illness.

Funeral services will be 3:00 p.m., Sunday, December 28, 2014, at Ebenezer Baptist Church with burial following in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends following the service in the church fellowship hall.

She was born in Chattanooga, TN, a daughter of the late Thomas Glen and Helen Allison Boyd. She earned her bachelor of arts degree from Carson-Newman College and her masters degree from Middle Tennessee State University. She was a teacher with Florence District 1.

Mrs. Ray was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church in Florence, where she was the church organist for over 30 years.

Survivors include her husband, Jack R. Ray, of Florence; a daughter, Melinda Rebecca (Christopher Dean) Huiet, of Florence; a son, Michael Jeremy Ray, and his fianc, Bethany Renee Ravan, of Columbia; a brother, Gene Autry (Mary Ann) Boyd of Chattanooga, TN; and four grandchildren, Lillen Margeret Huiet, Jackson Russell Huiet, Thomas Christopher Huiet, and Julia Katherine Ray.

She was predeceased by two brothers, Jerry Thomas Boyd and Bobby Allen Boyd.

Memorials may be made to Ebenezer Baptist Church, 524 S. Ebenezer Road, Florence, SC 29501.
