Kathryn Hinnant

       Kathryn "Kitty" Jo Hinnant (nee Wheeler) peacefully passed away Wednesday, February 5, 2025. Kitty was loved immensely by her family and friends and will be greatly missed. She was born in Florence on September 12, 1937, to Thelma Cody Wheeler and George Dewey Wheeler. She attended Lander College and wrote copy for CBS in New York City before returning to Florence to work at WBTW and marrying the great love of her life, Ernest Bryant "Monck" Hinnant, Sr., who is undoubtedly making her laugh herself silly right now.

       Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, George Dewey Wheeler, and sister, Nancy Joy Wheeler Brown.

       She is survived by her sons, Ernest Bryant Hinnant, Jr, Coley (Shelley) Culpeper Hinnant, Dewey (Vickie) Wheeler Hinnant, and Cody McGill Hinnant; nephew, Marcus Dewey Brown; niece, Greta Ann Brown; grandchildren, Thomas Culpeper Hinnant, Caroline Reynolds Hinnant, Ernest Bryant Hinnant, III, Austin Rierson, Cecilia Rierson, and Joseph Rierson; great-grandchildren and many cousins.

       A memorial service will be held Monday, February 17, 2025, 12 p.m. at Waters-Powell Funeral Home, 400 S. Dargan St., Florence, SC  29506.
