Kenneth Paul Heinz, 91, died on September 10, 2024, at the McLeod Hospice House of Florence, SC.
Mr. Heinz was born on May 1, 1933, in Homestead, PA, to parents Michael Heinz and Marie Dorothy Oelschläger. He was nationally recognized for his encyclopedic memory of inappropriate jokes, kindness, generosity, and endless sketches, usually featuring the Grinch.
His interest in aviation began during his service in the US Navy and grew along with his career, ensuring the safety of USAir’s aircraft until his retirement in 1994.
He married the late Marjorie E. Brooks on May 21, 1955.
Survivors include two sons, Steven Craig (Paula) Heinz of Union, SC, and Michael Brooks (Karen) Heinz of Collingswood, NJ, and daughter Kimberly Fon (Ariel) Szögi of Florence; grandchildren Eric, Christopher, Nichole, and Emily Heinz; great-grandchildren Noah and Lilah; and his friend Mary Ferguson.
The memorial service will be 4:00 p.m., Friday, September 13, 2024, in the Chapel at the Florence Presbyterian Community with visitation one hour prior to the service, directed by Waters-Powell Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to Habitat for Humanity or the Manna House of Florence.
