FLORENCE – Leatrice “Lea” Robinson, 95, of Florence passed away on January 3, 2024. She was predeceased by her parents, Lester and Marie Bacher. Lea, as she was affectionately known, was born in Queens, New York and married Woodrow Johnson in NYC in 1951 before moving to Florence, SC. Woodrow passed away in 1955, and Lea married John M. “Jack” Robinson Jr. of Florence in 1958. In 1976, Lea entered nursing school and after graduating worked at Florence General until she retired in 1993. Jack passed away in 1995.
Lea volunteered at McLeod Hospital delivering flowers to patients until 2015. Lea enjoyed playing bridge and played with several groups and at the Florence Recreation Center. Lea was an active member of St. Anthony Catholic Church for over 60 years.
She is survived by her brother Les Bacher, daughter Mary Lea Stone, sons Jack (Theresa) and James (Dena) Robinson, cousin Frank (Andrea) O’Brien, three nieces, seven grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral mass will be said at 11:00 a.m., Monday, January 8, 2023, at St. Anthony Catholic Church with burial following in Mount Hope Cemetery. A wake service will be held at 5:00 p.m., Sunday, January 7, at Waters-Powell Funeral Home. The family will receive friends following the wake until 7:00 p.m.
