FLORENCE – Lelia “Bobbie” Alford Miller, 89, died Thursday, December 11, 2025, at McLeod Hospice House after a long illness.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Monday, December 15, 2025, at the Effingham Church of God with visitation one hour prior to the service beginning at 1:00 p.m. Burial will follow in Florence Memorial Gardens, directed by Waters-Powell Funeral Home.
Mrs. Miller was born in Fletcher, North Carolina, on December 23, 1935. She was employed as a unit secretary with Florence General Hospital for 31 years prior to her retirement. She was a member of Effingham Church of God.
Mrs. Miller was fondly known as the “Bread Lady,” for the many loaves of bread she baked and sold. She was also a talented quilter.
She was predeceased by her mother, Clara McMinn Alford; her husband, Alonzo Lloyd Miller; a brother, Jimmy Alford; and two sisters, Elizabeth Walker and Carolyn Shealy.
Survivors includer her two sons, Robert D. Miller (Debbie) and Clifton J. Miller (Elsie), all of Florence; a sister, Jean Barkalow, of Columbia; three grandchildren, James F. Miller, Mark Miller (Amber), and Jessica M. Wright, all of Florence; and two great-grandchildren, Dreyton Wright and Emileigh Miller.
