Lillian Grantham Shupe

FLORENCE Lillian Grantham Shupe was born in Florence, SC, on January 17, 1924. She was the daughter of the late Mary Shepard and Alfred Lee Mays. Mrs. Shupe was a member of Central United Methodist Church of Florence, SC, and was a member of the Spiritual Guidance Sunday School Class and the Joy Missionary Circle. She also served as a McLeod Hospice Volunteer.

She is survived by three sons, Henry F. Grant Grantham, III, and his wife, Mary Alma Al, David N. Grantham, Sr., and Don S. Grantham, Sr., and his wife, Sue, all of Florence; two granddaughters, Mariann Leigh DArcangelis of Tallahassee, FL, and Lawton Grantham Hirsch of Charleston, SC; three grandsons, Neil Grantham, Jr., Hal Grantham, and D. Stephen Grantham, Jr., all of Florence; her sister, Harriet Hyman of Fayetteville, NC; and many special nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her two very best friends, Frances Turner of Florence and Virginia Jacobs of Columbia, SC.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Ray C. Shupe, Jr.; three sisters, Mildred Mays Stanton, Rae Mays Wootton, Mary Lee Summerford Maxwell; her brother, James Mays; and her granddaughter, Chelsea Grantham.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday, December 20, 2014, in Central United Methodist Church. Entombment will follow in Mount Hope Cemetery Mausoleum, directed by Waters-Powell Funeral Home. The family will receive friends following the service at the mausoleum.
