FLORENCE Louise Irick Jacob, 90, died peacefully on Sunday, July 27, 2014, at her home after a battle with cancer.
Mrs. Jacob was born in Florence, SC, a daughter of the late James Coy Irick and Carolyn Harmon Irick. After graduating from McClenaghan High School, she married Donald Roy Jacob and spent the next two decades as home maker, wife, and mother to James Michael Jacob, before working a similar time s a dental hygienist for Dr. Parker.
Louise and Don were enthusiastic travelers, touring with their trailer around the USA and Canada for several years. During that time they also took two trips to Europe with relatives and friends. Before Dons death, they were active square dancers.
She was a life-long member of First Baptist Church of Florence, and a person of deep, satisfying, personal faith. Her home was always shared with dogs and cats, and she was a strong supporter of the Florence Area Humane Society.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Don Jacob; her brothers, Louie Irick and James Irick; her sisters, Sophie Plummer, Dot Pedrick, and Betty Wright; and her grandson, David Jacob.
Her long-time, special friend, Sammy Butler of Florence, survives her, as does her brother, Steve (Jean) Irick, also of Florence; and her sister, Bobby Irick of Columbia.
Her son, Mike (Jean) Jacob, lives in West Lafayette, Indiana. Adam (Susan) Jacob, her grandson and Madi Jacob, her great-granddaughter, live in Cincinnati, Ohio. Catherine (Scott) Coburn, her granddaughter, is from Battleground, Indiana.
Other surviving family include her nieces, Jayne McGirt, Becky Blanchard, Tracy Grubbs, and Lea Ann Williams; and nephews, Bruce Irick, Jr., and Louie Irick, Jr.
The funeral service will be 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 30, 2014, in the mausoleum at Mount Hope Cemetery, directed by Waters-Powell Funeral Home.
