Louise Sheppard Smith

          FLORENCE – Louise Sheppard Smith, age 105, died Tuesday, November 12, 2024, after an illness.

          Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Thursday, November 14, 2024, at Waters-Powell Funeral Home with visitation one hour prior to the service.  Burial will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery.

          She was born in Manning, South Carolina, a daughter of the late John Reese and Louise Elizabeth McLeod Sheppard.  She was the widow of Herbert Joseph Smith.

          Mrs. Smith worked as a legal secretary for the John McGowan Law Firm for 46 years.  She loved spending time with her family at the lake.

          Survivors are her son, Herbert J. Smith, Jr., and his wife, Kathrine, of Florence; four grandchildren, Randall Brown of Raleigh, NC, Angela Pope of Greenville, SC, David Pope of Greer, SC, and Amy Ciarla, also of Greenville, SC; nine great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.

          In addition to her husband and siblings, she was predeceased by a grandson, Herbert J. Smith, III.
