Margaret Tate Obituary

FLORENCE Margaret D. Tate passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 29, 2015, at Bethea Baptist Health Care.

She was born in Bostic, North Carolina, a daughter of the late Zoar E. and Oveda Sherlin Dobbins. She attended Rutherford County public schools in Ellenboro, NC, and Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Wake Forest, NC. She married James H. Tate in 1943 and began her journey through life with him for 59 years. The marriage produced three sons; Ron, Randy, and Jim, Jr.

James and Margaret worked together for the Lord in ministry in NC, VA, and SC for 50 plus years. She was Sunday School teacher, GA leader, WMU director, Womens Circle leader, church secretary, and Associational secretary for Florence Baptist Association as well as pastors wife.

Margaret was beloved by her family. She was predeceased by her husband, her oldest son, Ron, her only sibling, Bill Dobbins, and a granddaughter, Maria. She is survived by her sons, Randy (Annette) and Jim, Jr. (Lenne), her grandchildren, Quentin, Erica, Danielle, Justin, and Nicholas (Kathy); her great-grandchildren, Raven, Ryley and Owen.

Funeral services will be 3:00 p.m., Sunday, May 3, 2015, at New Bethel Baptist Church, 223 New Bethel Church Road, Harris, North Carolina, with burial following in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Saturday, at Waters-Powell Funeral Home in Florence.
