Martha "Susie" McCord Brown

         Martha “Susie” McCord Brown was born September 13, 1935 to Gladys and Lyman McCord in Lawrenceburg, TN.  She was raised in Atlanta, GA before moving to San Antonio, TX where she met the love of her life and husband of 69 years, Jimmy Randolph Brown.  After a brief courtship in TX, and a subsequent 2-year deployment to Scotland, Jimmy returned to Susie in South Carolina to propose.  

         It was there they began their 69-year marriage, and family of four daughters, Renee (Don) Polochak, Sharon (Richie) Meggs, Denise (Chip) Collins, and Donna (Brett) Green and one son, Randy Brown (Hailey Turnblad), 14 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, a beloved niece, Lisa (Terry) Penn and many friends she considered family.  

         She was predeceased by her parents, a brother, W.L. McCord, two sisters, June (Bill) Mulkey, and Margie (Willie) Williams, as well as a beloved grandson, Dylan Codie Meggs.

         Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, May 3, 2025, in Waters-Powell Funeral Home Chapel with burial following in Florence Memorial Gardens.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral beginning at 10:00 a.m.  

         In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Greenwood Baptist Church, 2401 Claussen Road, Florence, SC  29505.
