Marvene Hill Johnson

FLORENCE Marvene Hill Johnson, 78, died Tuesday, December 2, 2014, after a battle with cancer at the McLeod Hospice House.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Friday, December 5, 2014, in Waters-Powell Funeral Home Chapel with burial following in Mount Hope Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m., Friday, at the funeral home.

Born February 17, 1936, in Florence County, she was a daughter of the late Bert and Adamae Hill. She worked in the insurance industry all of her adult life. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Florence for over 50 years.

She was predeceased by her parents and her only daughter and son-in-law, Sharon S. Jones and Larry Jones.

She is survived by her sister, Dianne H. Coward of Florence; her niece, Dee R. (Bo) Treadway, and nephew, Dennis Rhodes; three great-nieces and two great-nephews, including a special caregiver and great-niece, Wendy T. Catoe; and several special friends.
