Mary Carnell Caudle

FLORENCE Mary Carnell Caudle, 92, died Friday, April 24, 2015, after an illness.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, April 28, 2015, in the Chapel of the Presbyterian Community of Florence with burial following in Mount Hope Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Monday, at Waters-Powell Funeral Home.

She was born in Evergreen, South Carolina, a daughter of the late Christopher Columbus and Bela Benton Carnell. She graduated from Florence High School in the Class of 1941.

Ms. Mary and her late husband, Sherrill W. Caudle, Jr., co-founded the Florence Leasing Company. They enjoyed traveling the country in their motor home with their little Yorkies.

She was a charter member of Greenwood Baptist Church, where she was a member of the church choir and the Prime Timers. She also enjoyed her garden club.

At the age of 80, she joined the staff of Fatz Caf as their greeter, and enjoyed her career until age 88. Ms. Mary loved people and had a servants heart.

Survivors include a daughter, Annette C. Hayes of Surfside Beach; two sons, Donald S. (Brenda) Caudle of Wichita Falls, TX, and Kent C. (Carolyn) Caudle of Florence; a brother, John Henry Carnell of Evergreen; seven grandchildren, Wanda Caudle, Jeffrey Caudle, Rock (Devonna) Hayes, Wendy (Jeff) Benton, Kacey (Rob) Ratliff, Anna (Jordan) Berry, and Drew Caudle; four great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

She was predeceased by a son, Andrew C. Caudle.
