Mary Ann Garrison

          Mary Ann Anderson Garrison, 90, died Thursday, August 8, 2024, after a brief illness.

          Funeral services will be 3:00 p.m., Sunday, August 11, 2024 in the chapel at Waters Powell Funeral Home.  A private burial will be at a later date.  The family will receive friends and family immediately after the funeral service and other times at the home of Woody and Gail Garrison.

          She was born in Timmonsville, SC, daughter of the late Fred L. Anderson and Wilma Langston Anderson. She attended Winthrop College and was a graduate of the Carolina College of Commerce. She was employed with Belk and Crawford and Company when she was first married.   She was the office manager and co-owner of Garrison Pest Control until the business closed in 2020. She was predeceased by her husband, Ralph W. Garrison, Sr.

          Mrs. Garrison was a charter member at Unity Baptist Church and was a former member of Greenwood Baptist Church.  She was a member of the choir at both churches. She was a member of the Greenwood Garden Club.    Mrs. Garrison was an avid gardener and bird watcher. She also loved playing the piano and would play several hours each day.  She was an expert homemaker and wonderful cook.

          Survivors include her sons, Ralph Woodrow “Woody” Garrison, Jr. (Gail) of Florence and John J. Garrison (Meg) of Lexington, SC, four grandchildren, Megan Garrison, Emily Pridgen, Justin (E.A.) Garrison and Lauren Garrison, and two great-grandchildren, Emilee and Harlee Pridgen.   She also leaves behind her beloved cat, Puddy. 

          She was predeceased by a sister and two brothers, Gladys A. Stone, Hubert E. Anderson and Joseph F. Anderson.
