MARION Mary Louise Grimsley, 94, died Sunday, September 22, 2013, in a Marion hospital after an illness.
Graveside services will be 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, September 24, 2013, in Mount Hope Cemetery in Florence, directed by Waters-Powell Funeral Home. The family will receive friends following the service at the cemetery.
Mrs. Grimsley was born in Mullins, SC, a daughter of the late Thomas Bishop and Linnie Marlow Brown. She graduated from McClenaghan High School and McLeod School of Nursing. She worked as a registered nurse at McLeod Hospital.
She was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church in Florence.
Mrs. Grimsley was predeceased by her husband, James Covington Grimsley; a brother, Cecil Brown, and his wife, Sarah Brown.
Survivors include two daughters, Susan Spencer (Leslie, Jr.) of Atlanta, GA, and Lynn McElveen (Charles) of Marion, SC; four grandchildren, Graham McElveen (Aimee), Thomas McElveen (Lindsey), Anne Handzel (Ben) and Sara Spencer (Matt); and seven great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Paul United Methodist Church, P. O. Box 5446, Florence, SC 29502; or to Methodist Manor, 2100 Twin Church Rd., Florence, SC 29501.
