Mary Frances McDonald

FLORENCE Mary Frances White McDonald, 94, widow of John Robert McDonald, Sr., died Tuesday, March 15, 2016, in a local hospital after an illness.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Thursday, March 17, 2016, at Mount Hope Mausoleum Chapel, directed by Waters-Powell Funeral Home. The family will greet friends following the service.

She was born in Saluda, South Carolina, a daughter of the late Joseph Henry and Leola Gunter White. She graduated from McClenaghan High School in 1940, and was a private secretary at the Florence-Darlington Mental Health Center for 25 years.

Mrs. McDonald was an active member of First Baptist Church of Florence from childhood until her health failed. She taught childrens Sunday school for many years, and was a member of the Fifty-Year Club.

Survivors include her daughter, Pat Atkinson, and her son, John Robert Bob McDonald, Jr. (Lynn), both of Florence; four grandchildren, Jaelyn Gallert of Denver, CO, Brad Atkinson (Kelly), Robert Blackman (Pam), and Mary Poole (Yancey), all of Florence; and five great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Agap Hospice, 1929 Mountain Laurel Ct., Florence, SC 29505.
