FLORENCE Mary Cheek Sidler, widow of Leonard O. Sidler, died on Monday morning, June 22, 2015, at McLeod Hospice House after a brief illness.
A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, June 23, 2015, at the Mary Ingram Chapel at the Methodist Manor, directed by Waters-Powell Funeral Home. Burial will be at 11:30 a.m., Tuesday, at Mount Hope Cemetery.
Born in Greenville, SC, in 1920, she was the daughter of the late Melvin Robert and Alice Swindler Cheek. Formerly of Columbia, she had resided at the Methodist Manor of the Pee Dee for several years. She was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church, the Jimmy McNair Sunday School Class, and United Methodist Women.
She was predeceased by her husband; her daughter, Dr. Mary Lynn Sidler Bost; her son, Dr. Leonard O. Buddy Sidler, Jr.; and four brothers, Ed, Larry, Gerald, and Frank Cheek.
Survivors include her son-in-law, Rev. Dr. Larry (Midji) Bost of Salisbury, NC; a niece, Beverly (John) Harrell of Florence; two grandchildren; a special friend, Beth Gilbert, of Florence; and a number of great-nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made to the Methodist Manor of the Pee Dee, 2100 Twin Church Road, Florence, SC 29501.
